The 'Minecraft Earth' Beta is Set to Launch its Global Takeover This Month

It's been a few months since we first heard about Minecraft Earth, the augmented reality version of Mojang's game that makes the real world playscape packed with your blocky creations. The company promised that a beta version of the game would be available this summer.  Needrealtor Now, with a new trailer, it says that the game will be launched on iOS within the next two weeks. Android will follow "soon afterward."

After witnessing live gameplay at WWDC last month, the announcement of iOS-first shouldn't be too surprising. While the new trailer offers a lot of info on how to play the game, interested gamers might want to check out the Apple demo to get more feel for what it's like to share the virtual Minecraft world with their friends, which overlays the real one.

To be one of the first players to have access, you'll need to sign up for the free game here (you'll require a smartphone with at least iOS 10 or Android 7 to play, as per the FAQ). The game's access is limited because they are adjusting load to the servers. However, you must be active to continue playing. If you do not play for seven consecutive days, another player will be able to take your place. To register, you'll need an Microsoft or Xbox Live account. Once you've registered, there is nothing more than to wait and build.

Think life is good? It's about time to change that. BETA! The Minecraft Earth closed beta is scheduled to be played in a handful of locations. Learn what to expect and sign up for a chance to play!
